I wish to express my thanks to ALL who made our PARISH POT LUCK such a success. The turnout was magnificent and the food, fellowship was splendid. Dottie Stipes shared with me that “we need to do this more often as a Church!” (And I couldn’t agree more!) Thank you to all who assisted in getting this organized, especially Nikki Stuart! Looks like we will have to have another Pot Luck as we move from Spring into Summer!!!
What a great week we had celebrating CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK. From the EKU dancers to attending Mass at the Cathedral to having one of our Parishioners who is an Officer for the Richmond Police sharing Barre and Justice, the Canines with whom the children fell in love. We had many new families at our Open House this past Tuesday and I once again wish to extend the invitation for you to consider ST. MARK CATHOLIC SCHOOL for your children’s educational needs.
THANKS also to everyone who made my 45th Birthday such a joyous one! It was great to be able to actually spend my Birthday with my mom and sister in Texas. Even though it was a short visit, I enjoyed being with my family and at my home!
Just a reminder that the Sacrament of Confirmation is scheduled for THIS WEDNESDAY at 7:00 p.m. We are blessed to have many young people who are receiving the Sacrament which will complete their Sacraments of Initiation. Also, we are happy to “welcome back” Bishop Gainer to St. Mark. Bishop Gainer, over the past eight years, has been no stranger to St. Mark and we are always pleased when his schedule affords him the opportunity to be with us.
I know this doesn’t sound right, but can you believe that ASH WEDNESDAY and the beginning of our LENTEN SEASON is only two and half weeks away? WOW! Time for us to begin reflecting on how we can make this LENTEN SEASON, a season filled with FASTING, PRAYER and ALMSGIVING. Each of you will receive a letter in the mail from me, set to arrive on ASH WEDNESDAY. May your heart receive this letter with openness and God’s Grace.
Please do not forget about our DAY AMONG FRIENDS 2 with Former President, George W. Bush scheduled for May 3, 2012. You can either fill out the necessary form in the back of our bulletin OR you can order your tickets directly online at: www.saintmarkcatholicchurch.net We look forward in welcoming President Bush to St. Mark and Madison County.
